Located on the first floor of Mabee Learning Commons, the Academic Success Center is a resource for MNU students needing academic support. Our mission is to help you achieve your academic goals.
Homework & Tutoring Help
Need help with a homework assignment? Have a big test coming up? Academic Success Center staff can help with tutoring in prerequisite and developmental skills, as well as studying, note taking, and test taking. Peer instructors are also available to provide tutoring in many subject areas. Peer tutoring sometimes occurs on weekday evenings. Tutoring resources are also available online, 24/7. You just need to ask for help!
Exam & Testing Services
The Academic Success Center is also responsible for Institutional Testing Services.
- ACT Exam
The ACT is administered on campus during freshman orientation. Students with low English and math ACT scores may be “placed out” of some developmental courses by taking COMPASS placement tests in reading, writing, and/or math.
- CLEP and DANTES Exams
We offer CLEP and DANTES exams on demand in the Academic Support Center, allowing MNU students to earn credit in many General Education and elective courses for their respective degrees by passing the appropriate exam.
- ATI TEAS Exam
The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is offered by appointment at MNU. This exam measures basic essential skills in the academic content areas of reading, mathematics, science, and English and language usage.
If you are a student with special needs, please contact the Academic Success Center for help with accommodations. Documentation of your disability is required to assess need and accommodation levels. The information you provide is voluntary and will be kept confidential.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act prohibit discrimination against individuals with disabilities. The purpose of these laws is to remove barriers that prevent qualified individuals with disabilities from enjoying the same opportunities available to persons without disabilities. A student with a disability who wishes to request a reasonable accommodation must contact the Director of the Academic Success Center at 913-971-3387 or firstname.lastname@example.org. MNU’s complete policy regarding student disability accommodations may be found at: https://www.mnu.edu/ADA
